Getting to know yourself better with the Neurocognitive and Behavioral Approach

INC_Governance

In a fast-moving world, where pressure often mounts faster than sense, getting to know yourself better is essential.

This is what the Neurocognitive and Behavioral Approach (NBA), developed over 35 years ago by Dr. Jacques Fradin, a medical doctor, psychotherapist, behaviorist and cognitive therapist, is all about.

A scientific approach... and very practical

The Neurocognitive and Behavioral Approach (NBA) is a multi-disciplinary approach that studies brain and behavioral mechanisms to better understand and manage our reactions and interactions. It draws on neuroscience, cognitive psychology and behavioral and cognitive therapies to identify the brain's different modes of functioning and their impact on our behavior.

CNA aims to understand how our brain structures our perception of the world and our reactions to it. It offers tools for identifying and modifying our mental operating modes, enabling us to better manage our stress, emotions and behaviors.

In particular, she distinguishes between two major modes of brain function:

  • The automatic mode, fast but rigid, which reacts according to our habits, automatisms and past conditioning.
  • The adaptive mode, more flexible, lucid and creative, which enables us to act with discernment in complex situations.

What motivates us deeply

The ANC proposes a model of primary motivationswhich identifies what gives us sustainable momentum, what resources us. These are not skills or social roles, but genuine internal drivers. The model proposes 8 motivational profiles.

Reflecting on your motivations will help you better understand :

  • Why certain situations naturally excite us.
  • Why others cost us without us always knowing why.
  • How to rediscover authentic alignment in our life and career choices.

And when these internal motors are ignored or misused, misalignment can set in. That's where stress comes in.

What about stress?

Another important contribution of ANC is its approach to stress: it is not always linked to workload or external pressure. It can come from a discrepancy between what we experience on a daily basis and what drives us deep down.

For example:

  • Being in a very standardized environment when you need freedom,
  • Being constantly in competition when you're looking for connection and cooperation,
  • Or not making sense of your actions when you're looking for coherence.

This background stress may go unnoticed... but it often ends up manifesting itself in the form of fatigue, irritability, loss of motivation or compensatory over-investment.

Profil'INC®: a powerful coaching tool

The tool Profil'INC® is a structured questionnaire based on ANC, which assesses an individual's behavioral dynamics. It is used in coaching to :

  • Better understand your primary, unconditional and lasting motivations,
  • Clarify areas of blockage and misalignment in your current life,
  • Identify levers for greater alignment.

Practical application of CNA in personal and professional life

ANC does not propose a "miracle recipe", but rather a detailed detailed and dynamic reading of what drives us to act or to avoid.

It offers a framework that is both rigorous yet accessiblethat enables us to accompany each individual towards a form of congruence an alignment between one's choices, one's behaviors and one's deepest motivations.

The primary motivation model has concrete applications in many fields: personal development, coaching, management, stress management or change management. It enables us to get to know ourselves better, identify sources of conflict or demotivation, and adopt strategies that are more respectful of ourselves and others.
